All models: List of recommended tightening torques
CAUTION!
All bolts and nuts on the motorcycle have a right hand thread (with an exception for some suspension forks' parts). Tighten clockwise, loosen anti-clockwise.
Each assembly step, that contains tightening of a bolt or a nut, has specified tightening torque. Please follow this information to prevent damage or self loosening of a part.
Use a small ammount of a threadlock with medium strength (
blue
) is recommended to use on each thread. The only exception are the swingarm bolts, where the use a small ammount of a threadlock with high strength (
green
) is recommended.
List of recommended tightening torques:
If the values stamped on a part (or a manual designated for this part) do NOT states otherwise, please follow these tightening torques:
M3 bolts and nuts: 2 - 3 Nm
M4 bolts and nuts: 3 - 4 Nm
M5 bolts and nuts: 5 - 6 Nm
M6 bolts and nuts: 8 - 10 Nm with an exception for the FreeRider upper controller cover: 5 - 6 Nm
M8 bolts and nuts: 18 - 20 Nm
(Only for Start/Trial/Cross):
9.5 mm wheel axle nuts: 24 - 26 Nm
M10 bolts and nuts: 38 - 40 Nm
M12 bolts and nuts: 58 - 60 Nm
(Only for Ranger/Challenger/FreeRider/X-Force):
Front and rear axle: 68 - 70 Nm
